← NEWS - An interview with Mark Evans, Milestone’s newest team member

New kid on the Milestone block, Mark Evans, joined us earlier this year as a Trainee Paraplanner, bringing a wealth of experience in the financial services industry. He’s already made an impressive impact in the office, thanks to his unofficial title ‘King of the Spreadsheets’. We wanted to put him under the spotlight, we think he enjoyed it, so read on to find out a little more about Mark.

What’s your background and experience in financial services?

I started working in the finance sector straight out of school in 2013 and have worked for a local independent financial advisors for the last 6 and half years. I joined Milestone in February this year and I’m learning lots and having fun while doing it!

What have the first three months been like for you at Milestone?

I’ve loved getting to know the team, they’re a good bunch, everyone is really close and works together so well, we’re like a well-oiled machine! And I’ve enjoyed using my previous experience to get stuck into working closely with Craig.

Are there any professional skills you are currently working on?

I’m broadening my knowledge and experience every day, thanks to the people around me and I’m working towards getting all the relevant qualifications to fully qualify as a paraplanner.

What motivates you to succeed?

I’m definitely motivated by working well as part of a team and helping that team to achieve success, whatever that success looks like, individually, and collectively.

What are you looking forward to in the coming months?

I’m looking forward to getting started on my exams and broadening my knowledge which will help strengthen my day-to-day work. Outside of work, I’m off to Tramlines Festival in Sheffield in July which is always a great weekend!

What are your favourite things to do outside of work?

I play the banjo for a local folk band, The Natterjacks, maybe you’ve heard of us?  As you can imagine music’s pretty important to me, so I enjoy going to gigs and festivals, whether we’re playing or not! I also love a good walk with my dog.

What is your most prized possession?

It would have to be my dog, a cockapoo called Tilly.

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Patient, optimistic and friendly

What’s your favourite book?

Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman, it’s a brilliant ‘whodunnit’. There are a couple of sequels out now, so I’m looking forward to starting those too.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I can clap one handed!
