Callum Smith
I’m a financial adviser with Milestone Financial Planning. Before moving into financial services, I worked in psychology and forensic psychiatric hospitals, but ultimately wanted a career that offered more autonomy, deeper long-term client relationships, and the opportunity to make real, measurable improvements in people’s lives within a system that allows that to happen.
Retraining into financial advice required a complete professional reset with me returning to study, earning the necessary qualifications, and developing a new technical skillset in a highly regulated profession. The transition was immensely rewarding. At Milestone, I advise clients, helping them build clear strategies around their goals, their families, and their long-term financial wellbeing.
In the office
As an adviser at Milestone, I work closely with clients to understand their aspirations, analyse their current position, and build tailored financial plans that support their long-term goals. My work includes retirement planning, investment and wealth strategy, protection advice, helping business owners and higher-net-worth individuals, and ultimately helping clients navigate those major life transitions. I continue to enjoy producing educational content surrounding financial concepts, something on the website that helps clients feel informed and supported every step of the way.
Why I love this career
What drives me most is knowing that thoughtful, well-structured financial advice can genuinely improve someone’s life. I value building long-lasting relationships, helping clients gain clarity and confidence, and being part of a practice that prioritises care, transparency, and long-term outcomes. Milestone has a close-knit, supportive culture, and it’s motivating to work in a business where the commitment to clients is not just a value but a daily reality.
Outside of work
Outside the office, I focus on spending time with friends and family, fitness, and personal development. I enjoy training in the gym, following Formula 1, hiking and mountaineering (with plans to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2026), and playing a few bad rounds of golf when time allows.
