The Milestone team grows again!

← NEWS - The Milestone team grows again!

A big Milestone welcome to our newest team member, Becky, who joined us at the start of 2023 and is now officially our in-house compliance guru.

With over 20 years’ experience in the financial sector, Becky has taken on the role of Senior Administrator and Advisor Support and is responsible for service delivery and our business monitoring and compliance programme.

At the weekend, you’ll find Becky taxiing her teenagers around to their various activities, saluting the sun during yoga classes and eating out. We quizzed Becky to get the lowdown on her, her career highlights and what she’s most looking forward to in her new role at Milestone!

What’s your background?

I’ve worked in financial services for over 20 years in a variety of roles, both for Independent Financial Advisors and investment companies, so I like to think I know my stuff!

How would you describe your first couple of months at Milestone?

Three words, enlightening, fun and hard work.

Enlightening, well having lived in Chesterfield my whole life, I’m learning so much I didn’t know about the local area!

Fun because the team are simply wonderful, everyone’s been exceptionally welcoming and made each day positive and interesting.

Hard work, well I wanted to hit the ground running and I certainly feel I’ve done that and I’m loving it! Particularly because I’ve been working part-time for the last 15 years and now I’m back to full-time, which has been a shift for me.

What professional skills are you working on at the moment?

Right now, I’m studying for my Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning, usually known as RO exams, which I know will give me much more insight and depth of knowledge about the industry as a whole.

What motivates you to succeed at work?

Learning new things and solving problems. I also love to develop not just my own knowledge and experiences but those around me. Seeing a firm or team grow is a real buzz.

What are you most excited about in the coming months?

Of course, I can’t wait to further develop my knowledge and qualifications and get more insight into our clients, how we support them and deliver the best possible service.

But I am also really looking forward to being told the ‘best joke ever’ by Pete, which I’m reliably informed can only be told on a team night out!!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love eating out, spending quality time with friends and family, the usual stuff. Although much of my time is spent transporting teenagers to and from various sports clubs and social events!!

What’s your most prized possession?

My family photos and souvenirs from when my kids were younger. I’d love more photos, but it’s a challenge getting teenagers to agree to be in the shot!

What three words would friends and family use to describe you?

Hmm, not sure I’d want to know! Maybe I need to get some different friends…

What’s your favourite book?

The Harry Potter books are probably the ones I’ve read the most, along with classics like Pride & Prejudice. I love reading and will try anything really, though I usually prefer a good murder to a romance.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

The very first single I bought was Timmy Mallet’s Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini, the shame! Even worse though is that I’m off to see him live next month, hopefully he won’t be singing though!
